** Historical Note: “Aces and Eights” became known as the “Dead Man’s Hand” because it was the hand of cards that Wild Bill Hickok held when he was shot in the back of the head during a poker game in Nuttal and Mann’s Saloon in Deadwood, South Dakota. His full had was two aces, two eights, and fifth card varies from story to story with the strongest story being the Queen of hearts.

[1-8]: Heel grind, Coaster step, Turning heel grind, Coaster step
1-2Rock forward on the right heel with the toes pointed to the left. Recover on the left foot as you turn the right toes to the right.
3&4Step back on the right foot, Step the left foot next to the right, Step forward on the right foot.
5-6Rock forward on the left heel with the toes pointed to the right. Recover on the right foot as you turn a quarter turn to the left.
7&8Step back on the left foot, Step the right foot next to the left, Step forward on the left foot.
[9-16]: Wizard step, Wizard step, Stomp, Clap, Stomp, Clap
1-2&Step forward at an angle on the right foot. Step/slide the left foot up behind the right, Step forward on the right foot.
3-4&Step forward at an angle on the left foot. Step/slide the right foot up behind the left, Step forward on the left foot.
5-6Stomp forward at an angle on the right foot. Hold/Clap the hands.
7-8Step forward at an angle on the left foot. Hold/Clap the hands.
[17-24]: Turning jazz box, Three quarter turn paddle turn
1-2Step the right foot across the left. Step back on the right foot.
3-4Turning a quarter turn to the right, step forward on the right foot. Step forward on the left foot.
5&6&Tap the right toes forward/side while turning and eighth turn to the left, Hitch the right knee up while turning an eight turn to the left, touch the right toes forward/side while turning and eighth turn to the left, Hitch the right knee up while turning and eighth turn to the left.
7&8Touch the right toes forward/side while turning and eighth turn to the left, Hitch the right knee up while turning an eighth turn to the left. Touch the right toes to the side.
[25-32]: Jazz cross, Heel switch, Jazz cross, Heel switch
1-2Step the right foot over the left. Step back on the left foot.
&3&4Step back on the right foot, Touch the left heel forward, step the left foot next to the right, Step forward on the right foot.
5-6Step the left foot over the right. Step back on the right foot.
&7&8Step back on the left. Touch the right heel forward, Step the right foot next to the left, Step forward on the left foot.
