Copyright Complaints

This page explains how to send BootStepper a copyright complaint. It forms part of our Terms of Use. Our position on what copyright does and does not cover (including dance titles, steps, and social/line dances) is in Terms Section 5.

What to include

• The work you claim is protected by copyright
• The BootStepper URL(s) (or other location) of the material you object to
• Your name, email, and how we can reach you
• Why you believe the use is unauthorized, and that you are authorized to act for the rights holder

Listing dance titles alone, claiming rights in ideas or steps, or asserting ownership of a social or line dance as such is usually not enough. See Terms Section 5 and the U.S. Copyright Office circulars.

How we respond

We may ask for more detail, decline incomplete notices, remove or disable material, or take other steps under our Terms. If we remove something in error, email the same address with enough detail for us to reconsider.

False or abusive notices

Sending a copyright, DMCA, or similar complaint that you know is false, misleading, incomplete, or made in bad faith—including to BootStepper, Cloudflare, or another provider—is a material breach of our Terms. Knowingly material misrepresentations in DMCA notices may also create liability under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).
